The Accounting Clerk will help the finance team of the Carroll Institute by taking point positions on A/R, A/P, and Payroll. The Carroll Institute strives to be the provider of choice for a behavioral health continuum of care for at risk individuals and families. We provide Residential Treatment and Outpatient Services for those struggling with Substance Use Disorder issues, as well as providing Prevention Services in local area school districts, and Mental Health Counseling. 

The Accounting Clerk will perform Accounts Receivable activities, such as: initiate and execute debt collection activities for outstanding accounts receivable balances. Contact clients via phone, email, or mail to follow up on overdue payments and negotiate repayment plans; 
Accounts Payable activities such as: Assist in processing accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, and utility bills. Reconcile credit card and vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Payroll Administration activities such as: Bi-weekly (or more frequently) process payroll, including data entry, timekeeping review, and payroll adjustments.

The Accounting Clerk will provide Administrative Support with activities such as: serve as back-up to the Office Manager and Finance Manager as needed. Provide general administrative support to Finance, such as data entry, filing, scanning, organizing financial documents. Participate in audits and other financial reviews by providing documentation and supporting evidence as requested. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Two years’ minimum experience in at least two of the following: Payroll, A/R, Outbound Collections
  • Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred

Preferred Skills/Competencies

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
